Going to Heaven ?

It's really quite surprising to read these two verses, given what mainstream Christianity seems to teach.

John 3:13-17
13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.

Acts 2:29-34
29 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day......34 For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: NKJV

Not even David, a "man after God's own heart" has ascended into the heavens.
